Dr. DeSanctis to begin role as Chancellor on October 1, 2025

DENVER, Sept. 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE) appointed Dr. Marielena DeSanctis as Chancellor of the Colorado Community College System (CCCS), the state's largest provider of postsecondary education and workforce training. The appointment follows a rigorous national search and public notice period, as required by Colorado statute.

Dr. DeSanctis, who currently serves as President of the Community College of Denver (CCD), will assume her new role as CCCS Chancellor on October 1, 2025. She becomes the first Latina to lead the System.

The Board cited Dr. DeSanctis's breadth of leadership experience across K–12, higher education, and workforce sectors as a critical strength, along with her bold vision to help CCCS achieve the goals outlined in its 2030 Strategic Plan – Transforming Futures.
